Blood Draw & Labs

Walk-In Lab Work Without Long Waits

Family First Urgent Care performs blood draws and lab testing with quick results and direct communication from your provider.

When your doctor orders lab work or you need testing done quickly, you want a location that can draw blood efficiently and send results where they need to go. Family First Urgent Care handles blood draws for routine lab panels, follow-up testing, and diagnostic work ordered by your primary care provider or specialist.

The process involves a trained phlebotomist drawing the sample, labeling it with your information, and sending it to the lab for analysis. Results are typically available within one to three business days depending on the test. If your doctor ordered the lab, results are sent directly to their office. If you had the test done at Family First Urgent Care, the provider reviews the results and contacts you with next steps.

If you have lab orders from your doctor or need testing arranged, reach out to Family First Urgent Care to schedule your visit.

How the Blood Draw Process Works

When you arrive, you check in and provide either a lab order from your doctor or explain what testing you need. The phlebotomist verifies your identity, confirms which tests are being ordered, and prepares the necessary vials. The actual blood draw takes less than five minutes in most cases.

After the draw, you apply pressure to the site with gauze and wait a moment to make sure there is no additional bleeding. You are given instructions on when to expect results and who will receive them. If fasting was required for your test, you can eat or drink immediately after the draw is complete.

Some tests require specific preparation such as fasting for eight hours or avoiding certain medications beforehand. Family First Urgent Care will inform you of any requirements when you schedule. If you are unsure whether your test requires fasting, call ahead to confirm before your appointment.

Here are answers to typical concerns about lab visits

People scheduling blood work for the first time or switching from a hospital lab often ask about preparation, timing, and how results are delivered.

  • What do I need to bring to my appointment?

You should bring a photo ID, your insurance card, and the lab order from your doctor if one was provided. If you do not have a written order, the provider at Family First Urgent Care can determine what tests are appropriate based on your symptoms or health concerns.

  • How long does it take to get results?

Most routine lab results are available within one to three business days. Specialized tests such as hormone panels or cultures may take longer. Family First Urgent Care will let you know the expected turnaround time when your blood is drawn.

  • What if I need fasting lab work?

If your test requires fasting, you should avoid food and drinks other than water for eight to twelve hours before your appointment. You can take your regular medications unless instructed otherwise by your doctor.

  • Can I have blood drawn for tests ordered by another doctor?

Yes. You can bring a lab order from any provider, and Family First Urgent Care will draw the sample and send it to the lab listed on the order. Results will be sent directly to the ordering physician.

  • What happens if the results show something abnormal?

If your results fall outside normal ranges, the provider who ordered the test will contact you to discuss next steps. This may include follow-up testing, medication adjustments, or a referral to a specialist depending on what the results indicate.
